Mike Bouchet’s work explores the contradictory nature of modern life through a juxtaposition of aesthetics and materials. He utilizes the glamorous and mass-produced visuals of popular culture in contrast to the abject, and corporeal elements inherit in contemporary lifestyles. Many of his actions, objects, paintings, videos and installations provide provocative, yet uncanny, experiences.

Mike Bouchet (born 1970 in California, USA) graduated from UCLA, CA in 1994. He has since shown extensively in major galleries, art institutions, and biennales throughout Europe, South America, and the United States. His works are held in public collections in Oslo, Mexico City, Paris, Venice, Los Angeles, Berlin, Frankfurt and Vienna. Just recently this May his exhibition ‘Y Ask Y’ took place at Carl Kostyal in Stockholm. He has been reviewed by major art publications such as Artforum, Flash Art, Frieze, Modern Painters, the F.A.Z., the New York Times and the New York Post.

He currently lives and works in Frankfurt, Germany.
