The next guests in series of Space Projects at the Royal Institute of Art will be Steffen Håndlykken and Stian Eide Kluge from Gallery 1857.

May 7, 13-15pm at Mejan Gallery, Skeppsholmen

Their exhibition space occupying a former lumberyard in Grønland, downtown Oslo. Founded in 2010, 1857 aims to forge connections between the Norwegian art scene and young artists abroad. Recent exhibitions include Fever Thread, 2014, featuring framed poems under infrared heaters; Made to Measure, 2013, with new works by Jimmy Robert; and Sunbathers, 2013, a group show with David Douard, Aude Pariset, Adele Röder and Camilla Wills.

This is the third lecture in the series Space Projects. The focus is to highlight galleries and spaces founded and run by artists. These spaces stand out because of their experimental character. They can even be seen as a form of collaborative working method in which the exhibition activity becomes the basis of the artistic practice itself.
