David Campbell - Common Culture: recent projects and comic engagement

Common Culture are drawn to the everyday rituals of commodity consumption governing social experience. Using humour as a means to meddle with habitual patterns of reception, they fashion new, and often unsettling encounters with popular culture.

Founded in Liverpool, UK in 1996, Common Culture (David Campbell, Mark Durden & Ian Brown) have exhibited extensively in the UK and abroad including solo exhibitions in New York, London, Athens, Porto, Manchester and Derry and have participated in numerous group shows including Shopping: A century of art and consumer culture, Tate Gallery, the Shanghai Biennale, and Manifesta 8.
