YES LAB seminar/workshop – Mike Bonanno

Workshop 3rd-4th FEB
Seminar 3rd FEB, 18.00, House 28

The Yes Men (NY) will deliver a seminar about tactical media and identity correction. Bonanno will talk about how constructed and delivered narratives can be key to intervention practices and how the media can be co-opted into critical narratives. In connection to the launch of his new film at the Berlin film festival The Yes Men are Revolting, Bonanno will offer a Yes Lab together with Amanda Newall. In a two-day intensive, students will work together practically, conceptually and response-based in order to carry out an intervention which takes on a big issue in the public domain. Participants will contribute with their own strengths and skills in the collaboration. Numbers are limited.

Mike Bonanno (b. 1968) is an internationally known multimedia artist and a founding member of The Yes Men, and an associate professor of media arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is also a co-founder of RTmark and the recipient of a 2003 Guggenheim Fellowship, granted for a project that used Global Positioning System (GPS) and other wireless technology to create a new medium with which to "view" his documentary Grounded about an abandoned military base in Wendover, Utah. Moreover, he started the Barbie liberation group, and other radical performance projects. Bonanno has an MFA in Visual Arts from the University of California, San Diego.
